Feline Friends Adoption Days

Petsmart
2203 Promenade Blvd
Rogers, Arkansas 72758

Feline Friends is a non-profit, all volunteer rescue organization in Northwest Arkansas. We are focused on helping the forgotten ones, the stray cats that cannot find a home or family. 479-274-0430 (Please Leave A Message)
Email info@felinefriendsnwa.org   They will be there on Sunday too from 10-6.

Mission
To help as many cats in our area as possible. Did you know?.. spaying and neutering just 1 male cat can save on an average of 6 other cat lives! Preventing unwanted babies is one of the primary ways to save the lives of so many animals. Simply caring for stray cats is great, but not enough. And the forgotten ones, the wild, feral, cats, who every one gives up on, they have a home with us.
General Information
We are dedicated to helping provide a home for the kitties unfortunate enough to either be born wild, or dumped off somewhere and lack the taming ability to find a foster home. We take cats from shelters, people, vets, and other organizations. We partner with Fabulous Felines NWA who takes the adoptable cats/kittens and gives them a home.Website is  http://www.felinefriendsnwa.org/

Theresa Driver is a Licensed Professional Therapist and a Registered Play Therapist. "I have specialized training using dogs and horses in my therapy sessions. When young children have problems, they aren't yet emotionally equipped to sit down and tell you or a therapist what is bothering them, but they can tell a trained therapist what is wrong through their play. In a play therapy room, equipped with specific toys and designed to make a child feel safe and secure, many feelings can be expressed through play.

Animal Assisted Play Therapy is a unique type of therapy combining Play Therapy and Animal Assisted Therapy. In certain situations, using a dog in a therapy session can assist a child in feeling more relaxed and comfortable.
The Unbridled Journey provides equine assisted psychotherapy (EAP), a powerful and effective therapy that has a profound impact on individuals, families, and children. Participants learns about themselves and their relationship with others by participating in activities with horses and then discussing feelings, behaviors, and patterns revealed in the session. So many wonderful really low cost and programs offerd by Spay Arkansas. What a great group !  See website for a wealth of info on programs and services. Phone 479-756-1100   SpayArkansas.org      Check out their Holiday party on November 30th!

Spay Neuter
We host low cost spay/neuter clinics each week, open to qualifying low-income clients with no residency restrictions and no maximum number of animals per household (for information about vaccines and microchips only, not spay and neuter surgeries, please click here). As we continue to provide citizens with as many days of service as possible, we host various veterinarians who have graciously agreed to share their time and talent in our building.

TNR Help
Spay Arkansas is the best option for feral cat TNR (trap/neuter/return) efforts in northwest Arkansas. Feral cats have an uphill battle since most of our local shelters simply do not have the staffing or finances to deal with feral cat colonies.

Lonoke County Search and Rescue K9 Unit

Lonoke County Search and Rescue K9 Unit is an all volunteer 501c3 charity organization.  We formed as a Unit in 2004 and became a 501c3 organization in 2010.  All necessary training, certifications and equipment are paid for by each volunteer.  We will hold fundraising activities to support our goals to lessen the burden on each volunteer.

Lonoke County Seearch and Rescue K9 Unit personnel give safety talks, Lost but Found Safe, to primary school children and children in summer library programs.  We were invited this year and spoke on K9 SAR at the Arkansas Attorney Generals Law Enforcement Summit.  The Attorney General's office also invited us to partake in his annual Children's Safety day and to attend his Missing Childrens ceremony May 2009 and 2010. We have trained with the local FBI at their request.

We are currently working with a K9 Master Trainer, a 6 month program for the K9's to learn how to find drowned persons at a cost of around $14,000.00.  We traveled to the east coast to train under Joe Canfield, National Center for Missing and Exploited Children K9 Director and regularly travel to Texas for our Bloodhounds to continue training in Scent Discrimination Man Trailing.

We travel the State of Arkansas on rescue missions and plan on continuing to educate our citizens, participate and respond to search and rescue/recovery missions when requested.

Little Rock Zoo Alligator Feedings

Little Rock Zoo
1 Zoo Dr
Little Rock, AR 72205

Dare to feed the alligators! American alligators live in freshwater environments, such as ponds, marshes, wetlands, rivers, lakes, and swamps, as well as in brackish environments.  When they construct gator holes in the wetlands, they increase plant diversity and also provide habitat for other animals during drought periods.  They are therefore considered an important species for maintaining ecological diversity in wetlands.

The Little Rock Zoo Education Department offers several on-site animal education programs. These programs are typically performed at the Civitan Amphitheatre. During one of our special animal programs, your group will get an up-close look at some of our education animals, many of which are not on exhibit to the general public. This special program is entertaining for children and adults alike and can be suited to the appropriate age group.  Visit http://www.littlerockzoo.com/

These meet-ups will offer us a safe, non-judging space to discuss some practical ideas that we can implement in our community, like: waterway clean-ups, film screenings, educational seminars, nature walks, etc.”

“We’ve got a great new community space opening up in a prime location; right in between World Treasures and Little Bread Company on Block St. We’ll get together kind of early in the evening since it is a Saturday night, keep it short and sweet and bring some good fresh energy into this space, and this cause. If you can’t make this first one, that’s ok. There will be plenty of cozy powwows throughout the season that will include potlucks, drum circles, and who knows what other fun stuff. Blessings!”

A Prayer for the Animals

~An Official Arkansas Week for the Animals event~

Join  those of us who would like to observe a moment of prayer and/or moment of meditation for the precious animals. We are requesting this, if possible, from 5-6 pm Central time Sunday, November 23, 2014, This is a multi-faith observance.

We can offer prayers, poems and memorials to our animal, pet or all animals wherever we are and even light a candle by doing so.Wherever you are, if you can observe a moment for the animals who need us...that collective energy will surely grow and bring light to our cause to love, assist and help them from any and all suffering.
